About Amy Seeley

Amy SeeleyAMY SEELEY has taught thousands of students how to improvise and write comedy since 1996. Her former students have gone on to write and/or perform for the Academy Awards, CSI: New York, HBO’s Funny Or Die, NBC’s Outsourced, Saturday Night Live, national commercials and various stand-up clubs across the U.S.

Amy has been improvising in front of live audiences since 1988. For over ten years, Amy taught improvisation and comedy writing at The Second City Los Angeles where she created the Comedy Writing Immersion. In addition to directing dozens of improv and sketch performances in LA, she hosted The Jam, a live weekly audience-participation improv show for eight years. She’s a graduate of Chicago’s Second City conservatory and iO Chicago. Amy has improvised on the stages of The Second City LA, iO West, iO Chicago, The Chicago Improv Festival and The Factory Theater.

Amy is a founding member of Chicago’s Factory Theater Company where she created, directed and performed in several of the Factory’s biggest hits including: ABBA-rama, JAILBAIT, HOORAY!, BEAVERHUNT and her critically acclaimed one-woman show AMY SEELEY and the MOLINE MADMAN. And she sold HOORAY! to MTV as an original pilot.

She can be heard as the voice of Maya Ibuki in the anime double feature Neon Genesis: Evangelion. She also added her directing skills to the anime hits Read Or Die and Dead Leaves.

Amy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Michael Ross. She is an avid reader and is likely reading a book at this very moment. Amy enjoys talking about movies, television, music and theater while sitting in restaurants.  She also loves playing drums on Rock Band. She’s currently writing a few screenplays and the book version of her one-woman show. This sentence should be funny… or should it?
